FLOAT ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE PROGRAM @ LAKE TYERS

> FLOAT  is seeking applications for its residency program, from artists working in all disciplines.
> FLOAT residencies provide opportunities for artists to live and work on board the FLOAT VESSEL on Lake Tyers, East Gippsland, Victoria, Australia.
> FLOAT residencies are intended for professional contemporary artists, emerging or established. It’s all about the concept.
> FLOAT will offer a tiered range of residencies throughout the year. From fully sponsored, to fully self-funded.

We invite all artists to submit their expressions of interest here online (below) - so that we can communicate residency opportunities as they become available.

FLOAT’s annual program will be built around six 2-month ‘seasons’.

1. April/May
2. June/July
3. August/September
4. October/November.
5. December/January
6. February/March

* A typical residency would last 4-6 weeks. (one residency opportunity falling within each of those six seasons). (Please nominate your preferred season.)

FLOAT is developing exciting projects in collaboration with Traditional Owners, the Gunaikurnai Elders, GLaWAC and many Aboriginal friends and organisations.
We look forward to building on our friendships and partnerships in collaborations with you.

WHO CAN APPLY?

Applications are welcome from Australian and international contemporary artists working in any discipline including visual art, film, writing, music/sound, performance - anything really.
Emerging & established artists & thinkers are all invited to apply.
We expect this to be a highly competitive process - but we are definitely open to all ideas that align with our love of Lake Tyers, environment, community and generosity.

> FULLY SUPPORTED RESIDENCIES
4 x fully supported residencies, up to six weeks each, will be offered each year.
These will be offered to the artists who best fit our FLOAT vision, with a pitch that excites the life out of us.

INCLUSIONS
Accommodation + workspace on the vessel + kayak use.
A weekly stipend may be offered to offset day-to-day living expenses.
(You feed yourself - though we’ll be sure to share a few community meals throughout your stay - if you’d like to join us).
Some travel expenses can be supported, by arrangement.

OBLIGATIONS
1. Artists-in-residence will offer a public presentation, performance, workshop - or something similar - during their residency.
2. To love us.

> SEMI-SUPPORTED RESIDENCIES
If unsuccessful for a fully-supported residency, successful applicants will be offered a Semi-Supported stay, which has a fee of $200 (min.) for two weeks. Residencies can be up to 6 weeks (at $200 per fortnight). If the resident applies for a stay less than 2 weeks, the minimum fee remains $200.

Applications may propose a residency in collaboration with FLOAT and other external funding sources. Artists who choose to apply for / secure their own funding could strengthen their grant application through partnering with FLOAT and the in-kind support that we may be able to contribute. The A.I.R EoI application has an opportunity for you to discuss this option, submit an EoI now to begin that conversation.
