AN ARTISTS IN RESIDENCE TRAIL ACROSS EAST GIPPSLAND

FLOAT is currently funded by Regional Arts Victoria’s REGIONAL ARTS FUND RENEWAL FUNDING to build an ARTIST IN RESIDENCE TRAIL ACROSS EAST GIPPSLAND - embedding artists along trails and in under-used spaces that we’ve discovered during the evolution of FLOAT. We have found a zillion good places, and a zillion good people.

East Gippsland Shire Council’s Economic Development Board endorsed this concept and funded the writing of a FLOAT AIR BUSINESS PLAN to articulate the impact of such a project. We are now in the process of testing and activating that business plan. We know it will morph in real life. But with the many trails and projects being developed across East Gippsland we are confident that artists and creative thinking can be woven into every grand plan - if we are present in the planning of those projects. We aspire to see artists being paid for the contribution to our lives. L

FLOAT AIR WILL BE A SOCIAL ENTERPRISE DESIGNED TO GROW: A CREATIVE COMMUNITY, A CREATIVE REGION, A CREATIVE ECONOMY, CREATIVE ECO-TOURISM AND YES - A CREATIVE DESTINATION.

Renewal grants will provide up to three years of funding to support projects that have strong partnerships and demonstrated long term outcomes, with sustainable future-positioning focus. These projects will be strategic in nature. The projects can be process-driven and provide an opportunity to think beyond ‘snap back’ and to consider renewed arts practice and learning processes.
