REGEN TOURISM FORA

15 +16 MARCH @ LAKES ENTRANCE

On Wednesday 15 & Thursday 16 March our conversation digs deeper into our plans for creating a REGENERATIVE TOURISM DESTINATION experience in East Gippsland.

Our FLOAT-Feral MBA saw the most remarkable shift in the landscape of art life in East Gippsland. We were surrounded by THE full spectrum of optimistically grounded artists, long serving environmental activists, brilliant regenerators, strategic thinkers, bakers, makers, academics, strategists, policy makers, economists, accountants, uneconomists, gardeners, cartographers, storytellers, dancers - all responding to the call for entrepreneurs of the next gen.

'The Feral MBA is a radically re-imagined training course in business for artists and others. It responds to the towering failure of business-as-usual to maintain a liveable planet' - was the call. And the course was full to overflowing. And the energy was completely gratifying.

Now we are embark on a 5 week series of FORA across East Gippsland to share thoughts, soak up dormant energy, and do our bit to connect the REGEN world we know out here.
This is a conversation led by FLOAT.
We are not the govt. We are not the academics.
We are the artists/uneconomists/connectors/ unofficial place makers :-)
And the social entrepreneurs. Thanks Gippsland Social Enterprise Collective for understanding and loving us.

2 DAYS OF REGEN TOURISM DISCUSSIONS WILL INCLUDE

UNDESIGNING TOURISM POLICY / DIANNE DREDGE / TOURISM COLAB

  • Undesign is the act of intentionally creating rather than reactive, linear problem-solving.

  • Undesign allows us to follow heart and instinct.

  • Undesign deliberately rejects conventional approaches that keep us tame and in our lane.

  • Undesign rewilds us so we can think again.

  • Undesign follows the unschool movement where we learn through nature.

WHAT + WHY / ANDREA LANE / FLOAT

  • As FLOAT we have seen art lead the conversation.

  • In Far East Gippsland we see the environment as priceless.

  • The Feral MBA articulated our work, provoked optimism, found diverse collaborators and now demands clarity - for action in a bushfire devastated region.

  • We need policy-makers and local government in the room, to design an immediate plan.

  • How do we map the next steps. Form a working group to enable plans.

  • Dedicate resources, balanced with community wealth building and social enterprise.

  • Plan to build a regen destination pilot experience.

FERAL MBA / KATE RICH
